Old
Ho's sandals are incredibly durable and it is unlikely that you will
damage the soles during normal use. They are, after all, made of steel-belted
truck tires! There is, however, a possibility that the straps may loose
elasticity after rugged use.
Old
Ho's are sold with extra inner-tube strips so that you are able to repair
broken or worn straps on your rubber tire sandals. To replace your Old
Ho's straps simply use a small piece of wood (bamboo if you are in the
jungles of Southeast Asia) about 10 cm (4 in.) long and split it at
one end, down about an inch. Insert the wood (split end first) into
the slot on the sole (bottom) of the sandal until it appears out the
top. Then insert the new strap's end into the split in the wood. Carefully,
but forcefully pull the strap through the hole until about 2 cm (1 in.)
is showing on the underside of the sandal. Repeat this process for the
slot on the opposite side of the sandal.
